Sicilia explores the dual nature of Sicily, a land of both frugal peasant traditions with a simple, robust cuisine and ornate glamour and extravagance. Ben Tish invites you to unlock the secrets of Sicily’s culture and food, diving into its diverse tapestry of cultural influences.

Sitting at the heart of the Mediterranean, between east and west, Europe and North Africa, Sicily's cuisine is abundant with citrus, almonds, and a plethora of spices. These ingredients harmonise beautifully with the simple indigenous offerings of olives, vines, and wheat. By the coast, indulge in the freshest seafood, while inland offers mouth-watering meat; yet, rarely do the two mix.

This collection is packed with vibrant flavours, bringing Sicilian food to your table. The book includes recipes for delicious morsels and fritters, hearty couscous, rice and pasta dishes, and an abundance of granitas, ice creams, and desserts, all captured stunningly through photographs.

Recipes include:

  • Saffron arancini
  • Smoky artichokes with lemon and garlic
  • Whole roasted squid
  • Sicilian octopus and chickpea stew
  • Aubergines stuffed with pork
  • Roasted pork belly with fennel and sticky quinces
  • Bitter chocolate torte
  • Limoncello semifredo

Dive in and experience this unique culinary heritage for yourself. Bring the sights, sounds, and aromas of this beautiful food into your home.
