โญ New Hero Alert....Meet Tim!

Careers at Book Hero

Who We Are

We are not your typical bookseller.

Yes, we love books. But we also love technology and innovation. We are analytical. We care deeply about great in person customer service and running a beautiful bookstore. We obsess over systems that scale, data, fulfilment speed and the small details that most people never see.

We are united by one thing: wanting to do things differently and build something special.

Most of us probably do not fit in everywhere. But we fit in here.

Current Open Roles

Please see below for our current role openings.

We would love to hear from you.

Part-Time Warehouse Sidekick (Weekends)

Weโ€™re looking for a reliable, energetic Warehouse Sidekick to join our team on Saturdays and Sundays.

At Book Hero, we deliver thousands of books to customers and schools across Aotearoa. Our warehouse is where the magic happens - and we need someone whoโ€™s fast, capable of working independently, and takes pride in doing things right.

What youโ€™ll be doing:

  • Picking and packing customer orders with speed and accuracy
  • Receiving and processing incoming stock
  • Keeping the warehouse organised and efficient
  • Covering the bookshop when needed and helping customers find their next great read

What weโ€™re looking for:

  • Available to work both Saturday and Sunday consistently
  • Physically fit and comfortable being on your feet
  • High attention to detail
  • Confident interacting with customers when covering the bookshop
  • Reliable, punctual, and a team player
  • Previous warehouse or retail experience is a bonus (but not essential)

What youโ€™ll get:

  • A supportive, close-knit team
  • Staff discounts on books & more (the best perk)
  • A fast-paced environment where your work truly matters
  • The chance to be part of a growing Kiwi business

This is a weekend role, but if you have additional availability during the week, there may be opportunities to pick up occasional casual shifts from time to time, depending on business needs.

If youโ€™re interested in joining us, please email your CV and answers to the questions below to jobs@bookhero.co.nz.

Please include answers to the following:

  1. What has been your experience with Book Hero?
  2. Have you previously had to work completely independently before, and what was that like for you?
  3. Would you have additional availability outside of Saturdays and Sundays?
  4. The role will entail some customer facing aspects. Is this something that you either have experience with or would be comfortable with?

We review every application and will be in touch if your experience and availability align with what weโ€™re looking for.

Where Weโ€™re Based

Book Hero is based in Hobsonville, Auckland.

Our bookshop, warehouse and office all live together in one space. It is busy, fast moving and full of books.

What Weโ€™re Building

We are building an online bookstore we are genuinely proud of.
One we shop at ourselves. One we are proud to send to our friends and family.

We sell books - a lot of them. And we are expanding into a growing range of book-adjacent products you can enjoy together, like puzzles, board games and toys.

We care about quality products.
We care about service.
We care about getting it right.

Our Culture

We are focused and we move quickly.

We care deeply about our customers. Every decision comes back to them.

We are not corporate, but we are professional and respectful. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves.

We bring our individual personalities to work. We do not expect everyone to think the same way or look the same way. In fact, it is because we are different that we are great.

People tend to succeed at Book Hero if they:

  • Work hard
  • Stay humble
  • Focus on the customer and the result of the whole team
  • Respect their teammates and customers
  • Do not cling to dogma and โ€œthis is how it has always been doneโ€
  • Are open to improving systems and doing things better

If that sounds like you, you will probably feel at home here.
