New Releases to add to your TBR (11th August)

This week I'm most excited for a new novel by the incredible author Irvine Welsh. Many know him for writing the classic Edinburgh novel 'Trainspotting', but for me he rewired my brain with his disturbing novel called 'Marabou Stork Nightmares' (a little harder to find!). His new novel, 'Can Nothing Save Us', is a generational family saga set in Las Vegas and promises the same gritty and original storytelling that he is so good at.

Crime/Thriller fans will be needing to check our Matthew Reilly's latest, 'Contest', which sounds like an incredible read about a historic building within which a life threatening contest is taking place. There's also 'King of Beasts' and 'You'll Be Sorry' to keep you adrenaline junky readers busy. 

For us lovers of intense and dark romance panic not, Sierra Simone has come to our rescue with a new standalone novel in the Priest universe. 'Devil' sounds utterly sinful. There's also a new book from  Rina Kent who has gifted us this week with the next book in her Royal Elite series, 'Deviant King'. 

It's a big week for fans of the amazing Warriors series, with both a graphic novel in the Prophecy series and a new stand alone novel out this week alongside awesome collectible charms and blind box figurines! For those who love the sillier stories, Rowley Jefferson is back with his Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories #2 - perfectly hilarious and a little spooky too, kids love them! My personal favourite was always Andy Griffiths so I am stoked to see him pop up with his new weirdly wonderful book, 'You & Me and the Giant Knucklehead'. 

Did anyone else grow up listening to their parents Tony Robbins tapes playing in the car? I was excited to see that there's a 35th Anniversary Edition released this week of his classic in the self-help genre, 'Awaken the Giant Within'. One of the original wake-up calls and inspirational guides to taking control of the things we can to make the most of our one life, this is one I'll be picking up to see if it hits different now as a 30 something year old rather than a 5 year old. Also shout out to my amazing father for inspiring my never ending love of the self-help genre which remains as strong as ever.

I'm also super excited to have the sweet and lightly spiced 'Pumpkin Spice Cafe Cookbook' arrive! It's stunning but also full of absolutely delightful sounding recipes - everything from pumpkin spiced baked treats to seasonal drinks, all the recipes are not only inspired and taken directly from the books themselves but also look and sound absolutely delicious. Would make a perfect gift if you know someone who loves the series too!

There are a couple other non-fiction titles that arrived this week. 'Post-Mortem' by Tim Booth is a funny and bizarre collection of stories and experiences of those who work on the front line as we face the edge of our mortality (e.g. crime scene cleaners, combat medics and emergency nurses). For the fans of the Royals there's 'The Four Wives of Windsor' by Simon Vigar, one of the most trusted Royal correspondents who delivers insights and impacts of four important women who have shaped the Windsor family image in our lifetime.
