The Book Hero team has been enjoying playing games on our lunch breaks recently! These are some of my favourites that are easy to learn, fast paced, and you can fit in a couple of rounds during your break. A lot of these picks are competitive games that will get your heart racing as soon as you start!
Perfect for group settings, game nights and camps, Dutch Blitz can be played individually or in pairs. Another game of speed, try to block other people from putting their cards down while emptying your deck to win. For most of Dutch Blitz you won’t know what’s going on, and by the time you figure it out someone else will have already won.
Bananagrams is a great starter game on Game Nights to get everyone thinking and have some laughs! It's like scrabble but without the points or board. Fast paced and slightly chaotic, it's a great team building game too - you really get to know how people think! It's one of our staples for camping because of it's compact banana bag and all you really need is a semi flat surface to play it.
Even the base game of Spot it! has so many variations it’s hard to keep up. The premise is simple: match one of the pictures on your card to a picture on another card, and yet you’ll find it so hard to find a match when you’re under pressure.
Rings off for this one! Harder than it sounds, the only things you have to remember are those five words, taco, cat, goat, cheese, pizza, plus a few extra actions. If you like a fast paced game and inflicting a little bit of pain on your friends, you’ll love this game.
