Competition Terms & Conditions

Eligibility: Entry is open to New Zealand residents unless otherwise specified.

Who Can Enter: Employees, contractors, suppliers of Book Hero, and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Prize Details: The prize is not redeemable for cash or store credit and is valued at full retail price.

Winner Selection: Winners will be chosen at random unless stated otherwise. Book Hero reserves the right to verify entries and disqualify those that don’t meet the eligibility requirements.

How Winners are Contacted:

• Social Media Competitions: For competitions held on social media, winners will be contacted via the platform where the competition was announced, usually Facebook or Instagram. In most cases, we’ll reach out to the account used to enter; other methods, such as email, may be used if necessary.
• Website Competitions: For competitions entered through our website, winners will be notified via the email associated with their Book Hero account.

Claiming the Prize: If the prize isn’t claimed within 7 days or within the timeframe specified, we’ll conduct a redraw. This process will be repeated until the prize is claimed within the specified period.

Technical Issues: Book Hero is not liable for any technical problems that may affect the entry process or competition administration, including issues with internet connection, phone networks, or other equipment used.

Competition Disruption: If unforeseen circumstances prevent the competition from running as planned—like technical issues, viruses, or unauthorized activity—Book Hero reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the competition, as well as disqualify any individuals involved in tampering.

General Liability: Book Hero cannot be held responsible for errors, omissions, interruptions, or technical failures, nor any injuries or damages that may arise from participating in the competition or downloading materials related to it.

1. Entry Period

The entry period is anytime on Friday 22 December 2025.

2. Eligibility & Entry Conditions

• Only one entry per customer is permitted.
  
• You may not submit multiple entries by using different email addresses, identities, or devices, or by attempting to circumvent the rules in any way.
  
• Book Hero reserves the right to validate all entrants and to disqualify any entrant at its sole discretion.
  
• The competition is open to New Zealand residents only.
  
• Employees, contractors, suppliers, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
  

3. Prize Details

• There is one winner, and one prize to be awarded.
  
• The prize consists of one Prize Pack valued at a minimum NZD $400 (“the Prize”).
  
• The Prize is non-transferable.
  
• Substitution of the Prize, transfer or assignment to another person, or requests for a cash equivalent are not permitted.
  

4. Winner Selection & Notification

• The successful winner will be drawn at random.
  
• The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
  
• The winner will be notified by email within 7 business days of their order being fulfilled.
  
• Winners may also be announced on the Book Hero blog and/or social media channels.
  

5. Publicity

By accepting the Prize, the winner consents to their first name and city being used in promotional materials.

6. Winner Information

To request a copy of the winner’s details, please contact Book Hero.

The competition entry period is open from 12:00am to 11:59pm NZDT on 21 December 2025.

Entry is open to New Zealand residents only. Employees, contractors, suppliers of Book Hero and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.

To enter, customers must place an order on bookhero.co.nz during the entry period. Only one entry per customer is permitted. Entrants must not enter multiple times using different email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent these Terms & Conditions. Book Hero reserves the right to verify entries and to disqualify any entrant at its sole discretion.

There will be one (1) winner and one (1) prize awarded.

The prize is a year of free books from the winner’s Book Hero wishlist, defined as:

• One book selected by the winner each month for twelve (12) consecutive months
  
• Each book must be currently available for sale on Book Hero at the time of selection
• The recommended retail price (RRP) of each individual book must not exceed NZD $50.00
  

If a selected book becomes unavailable, the winner must choose an alternative eligible title.

The prize is not transferable, not exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. No substitutions are permitted.

The winner will be drawn at random from all eligible entries. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

The winner will be notified via email within 7 business days of their qualifying order being fulfilled. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within a reasonable timeframe, Book Hero reserves the right to redraw the prize.

The winner may be announced on the Book Hero blog and/or Book Hero social media channels. By accepting the prize, the winner consents to the use of their first name and city for promotional purposes.

Book Hero reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the competition if circumstances arise beyond its reasonable control.
