Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! DescriptionShipnuck, the New York Times bestselling author of Phil, brings his unparalleled investigative skills to bear on the battleground of modern golf. As tensions escalate on and off the green, he documents the plans conceived on opulent yachts and the frantic defensive measures of the PGA Tour. Richly detailed and vividly recounted, LIV and Let Die offers readers a fly-on-the-wall perspective, capturing the raw emotions and complex motivations of the players, caddies, executives, and other stakeholders embroiled in this epic contest.
With insider knowledge and unmatched journalistic prowess, Shipnuck provides an eye-opening account of how LIV Golf, generously backed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, has radically altered the landscape of men’s professional golf. Amidst the allure of extraordinary wealth, the book also delves into the ethical and political quandaries posed by this ambitious venture. Human Rights Watch characterises the Saudi initiative as a diversion from its severe human rights abuses, presenting a thorny dilemma that Shipnuck tackles with depth and insight.
Through extensive dialogues with key figures such as Tiger Woods, Donald Trump, Greg Norman, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Dustin Johnson, Jay Monahan, Rory McIlroy, Jack Nicklaus, His Excellency Yasir al-Rumayyan, Pat (and Ashley!) Perez, Brooks Koepka, Patrick (and Justine!) Reed, Bryson DeChambeau, and many more, Shipnuck crafts compelling portraits of the protagonists driving this complex saga. The book reveals the disruptive charm and the far-reaching consequences of this coup d’état against a traditional sport, delivering astonishing revelations about the intricate power dynamics at play.
LIV and Let Die is not merely a chronicle of events but a definitive recounting of one of the most tumultuous periods in golf history. Shipnuck’s fearless writing and detailed narrative style present readers with a fast-paced, investigative journey that often reads like a spy thriller. This book is a must-read for anyone captivated by the drama and intrigue of professional golf's most significant rift, providing a comprehensive look at one of the century’s biggest sports stories.
