Mindfulness in Crochet

Anyone can pick up a crochet hook and a ball of yarn. And everyone can be mindful. Mindfulness in Crochet casts fresh light on this renowned calming craft, showing how the practice truly exemplifies the art of intentional living.

Crocheter, teacher, and Instagram personality Emma Friedlander-Collins, @steelandstitch, explores how crochet connects us to each other and to the world around us. Through personal anecdote and expert insight, she unravels the true value of what it means to craft, its therapeutic benefits to positive mental health, along with the joys of the handmade and mindful making.

This book is divided into seven chapters which will teach us to:

• Connect with the practice of mindfulness
• Weave this craft into the busy pace of modern living
• Explore the roots of the practice in ancestral civilisations
• Ground yourself by crafting in nature
• Build community and explore 'craftivism'

The text also includes two calming, practical crochet patterns (Granny Square and Amigurumi), along with more useful mindful exercises to help you pause and reflect.

This book is from the Mindfulness series, a range of titles dedicated to exploring intentional, mindful lifestyles, including Mindfulness in Gardening, Mindfulness in Drawing, Mindfulness in Baking, Mindfulness in Wild Swimming, Mindfulness in Knitting, Mindfulness in Birdwatching, Mindfulness in Reading, and Mindfulness in Surfing.
