A gripping, far-future Beowulf-inspired thriller from an award-winning author, perfect for fans of Richard K. Morgan.
Yorick never wanted to see his homeworld again. He left Ymir two decades ago, with half his face blown off and no love lost for the place. But when his employer's mines are threatened by a vicious alien machine, Yorick is shipped back home to hunt it.
All he wants is to do his job and get out. Instead, Yorick is pulled into a revolution brewing beneath Ymir's frozen surface, led by the very last person he wanted to see againβthe brother who sent him off in pieces twenty years ago.
Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?
Ymir by Rich Larson is described as an exhilarating and high-octane sci-fi thriller with a mix of beauty, grit, and inventive storytelling. Critics highlight its ice-cold, propulsive narrative and jagged, gorgeous writing, making comparisons to Alien, Neuromancer, and Beowulf while embracing cyberpunk elements. The protagonist, Yorick, is noted for his compelling journey filled with personal turmoil and bad decisions, resonating with readers through its unpredictable and starkly beautiful storytelling.
