Trust Me I'm Lying

Exposing the truth behind fake news - and how to spot the real from the fake.

The book that predicted fake news, revised and updated for these terrifying times

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description
In 2016, fake news became real news - as its consequences became crushingly obvious in a year of political upsets and global turmoil. But it's not new - you've seen it all before. A malicious online rumour costs a company millions. A political sideshow derails the national news cycle and destroys a candidate. Some product or celebrity zooms from total obscurity to viral sensation. What you don't know is that someone is responsible for all this. Usually, someone like Ryan Holiday.

Ryan is a media manipulator. In a world where blogs control and distort the news, his job was to control blogs - as much as any one person can.

In today's culture...
1) Blogs like Breitbart, Buzzfeed and the Huffington Post drive the media agenda.

2) Bloggers are slaves to money, technology, and deadlines.

3) Manipulators wield these levers to shape everything you read, see and watch - online and off.

Why is he revealing the secrets of his trade? Because he is tired of a world where blogs take indirect bribes, marketers help write the news, reckless journalists spread lies, and no one is accountable for any of it. After recent events, he's pulling back the curtain because he doesn't want anyone else to get blindsided. Holiday will explain exactly how the media really works. What you choose to do with this information is up to you.

Ryan's early book on media manipulation that absolutely rings true today! Learn from the best...

Before Ryan’s time as an author on stoic philosophy, he was a marketing guru working for some of America’s biggest brands and authors. Trust Me I’m Lying is a playbook on how to gain mainstream media attention in today’s world of blogs and social media. Written 10 years ago, it has been satisfying to watch Ryan use his own tactics to achieve his own success, having become a New York Times Best Selling author on multiple occasions since publishing this book. One of the biggest takeaways is the idea of feeding stories “up the chain” not “down the chain”. Ryan believes all the big-name journalists read the same blogs and social media feeds we all do…so it’s best to feed stories to smaller up-and-coming journalists who are more easily accessible and actually drive the media narrative behind the scenes.
