The Sandersons Fail Manhattan

Heavily plotted contemporary satire, skewering everything from the arcane rules of social register types, casually hypocritical financial heavyweights, and eager educators, in the vein of the author's previous novel, CAMPUSLAND.

The Sandersons Fail Manhattan by Scott Johnston is a riveting tale of ambition, family dynamics, and societal pressures.

William Sanderson is very rich, but as he knows, you can always be richer. Up for a huge promotion at investment giant Bedrock Capital, William faces a crucial hurdle: keeping the HR department at bay. Meanwhile, he pulls every string possible to get his maddeningly indifferent daughter, Ginny, into Yale.

Ellie, his wife, hails from Kentucky and is a newcomer to New York, eager to fit into the city's elite society. Their second daughter, Zoey, is shy but content to make a new friend, even if it's the unusual new girl who calls herself a goblin.

Everything changes when the girls' exclusive school welcomes its first trans student, who mysteriously disappears. A frantic search ensues, and the entire city worries about her fate. Amidst this, the Sandersons find themselves caught in the crosshairs, struggling to navigate the new cultural rules and, inevitably, failing miserably.

Author Scott Johnston has shared his insights at various private clubs such as Racquet, Colony, and Southampton, as well as institutions like the Courdert Institute and university groups including the Jefferson Council of UVA. He has appeared on notable podcasts such as "The Eric Metaxas Show" and "The Tucker Carlson Podcast". Additionally, he serves as an adjunct professor at Yale University in the Economics Department.
