The Posthumous Life of R.W.

Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
The Posthumous Life of R.W. explores the contemplative wanderings of a man known only by initials, evoking the spirit of writer Robert Walser. Through a series of bilingual prose poems, Jean Frémon blurs identity between Walser, the author, and a mysterious narrator who muses on lakes, insects, and philosophy, inviting readers into a delicate meditation on presence and absence.

A chapbook of prose poems on existence and the self, with French on facing pages

As Jean Frémon describes, "He muses, he mopes, he immerses himself in atlases, he recites the names of lakes, he observes insects, he listens to the sounds of fountains, he reads Leibniz. This man, known here by the initials of a name that is not his own, is not without a certain resemblance to the writer Robert Walser. He could almost be his avatar, his emanation, his apparition."

Who is he? Or, more important, who is the I of these first-person vignettes? Walser? Frémon? or the translator? This layering of voices is echoed through the bilingual presentation of these short, musing prose poems in The Posthumous Life of R.W.
