The Ikigai Journey by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles delves into the profound Japanese concept of ikigai — the sweet spot where passion, mission, vocation, and profession converge. It is here that we find a personal sense of meaning, a reason to get up in the morning. Through this enlightening book, you will learn how to bring together these elements to achieve a balanced, fulfilling life.

Drawing on the wisdom of Japanese culture, the authors explore how ikigai, much like change, evolves with us through different phases of life. Our reason for being at 15 is not the same as at 70. This transformative journey is divided into three insightful sections, each offering tools to revolutionise your future by understanding your past and enjoying your present.

Japan boasts one of the longest life spans in the world with a remarkable number of centenarians. Many credit their strong sense of ikigai for their happiness and longevity. Unlike conventional self-care practices that require setting aside precious time, the ikigai method teaches you to find peace and fulfilment amid your daily routine.

Section 1: Journey Through the Future: Tokyo - Embark on a journey through Tokyo, a symbol of modernity and innovation.

Section 2: Journey Through the Past: Kyoto - Explore the refined traditions of Kyoto, an ancient capital steeped in history.

Section 3: Journey Through the Present: Ise - Discover the spiritual essence of Ise, home to an ancient shrine that is renewed every twenty years.

From the authors of Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life comes an insightful sequel. Garcia and Miralles use the metaphor of Japan's busiest train, guiding readers through various stations representing the future, past, and present. At each stop, you will learn to develop patience, cultivate undivided attention, and align your life goals. Through meticulous instructions, find your ultimate purpose by mapping out attributes in a Venn diagram to pinpoint the intersection of what you excel at, what the world needs, what you love, and what you can be paid for — enabling you to live out your ikigai.

Praise for Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life:

KonMari Newsletter praises Ikigai for encouraging individuals to find joy by simplifying their lives, similar to the ethos of decluttering. Aging is seen as an opportunity to continue working, smiling, staying active, and being social.

New York Post says, "Want to live longer? Keep super busy. If hygge is the art of doing nothing, ikigai is the art of doing something — and doing it with supreme focus and joy. Fall’s biggest lifestyle trend might help you live to 100."

Publishers Weekly applauds the book for persuasively showing that small changes can help readers find more joy and purpose in their lives. It highlights the clear, succinct information, skillfully compiled into an engaging and easily accessible format with lists, charts, and illustrations.
