Scoop Vol. 3 by Richard Ashley Hamilton is an exhilarating tale where Sophie, while visiting Cuba with her mum, is haunted by visions revealing past mysteries and pointing to future troubles. Milo is about to witness a murder on a Miami movie set, and Usnavy is investigating strange creature sightings. The only way for Sophie to save them in time is by unearthing a crashed UFO!

After being blasted by alien energy, Sophie takes a break from reality on a girls' trip with her mum in Cuba. Their aim is to reconnect and retrace their family history until eerie visions show Sophie the fateful crash of a UFO in 1960 that has major ramifications on her life. Just as she wraps her head around that, she glimpses a premonition of her friend, Milo, getting shot.

Desperate to save him, Sophie comes clean about her extraterrestrial extracurricular activities, only for the Cuban Army to arrest her. Apparently, they aren't too fond of American reporters on their soil. What follows is an eye-opening visit from a mad scientist, a jailbreak of intergalactic proportions, and a touching heart-to-heart between Sophie and her mum that leaves both women feeling newfound appreciation—and awe—for each other.

Scoop: Sci-Fi Witness represents Sophie’s most exciting and most emotional investigation yet, in which she solves a twisty murder mystery once again torn from the headlines. The only way for her to survive is by focusing on the facts, trusting her instincts, and finally being honest about her feelings for Usnavy and Milo.

About the Author

RICHARD ASHLEY HAMILTON is an award-winning Cuban-American (no, really) writer and creative consultant best known for his storytelling across many DreamWorks Animation franchises including How To Train Your Dragon and Guillermo Del Toro’s Trollhunters. He wrote on the Daytime Emmy-winning first season of Dragons: Race to the Edge and scripted the Lumiere award-winning How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World Tour VR experience. But in his heart, Richard remains a lifelong comic book fan and has created titles at Dark Horse, Aftershock, Insight, Sandstorm, and more. For Mad Cave Studios’ Maverick imprint, he currently writes two YA graphic novel series, SCOOP and TECTIV—recipient of a Kirkus Starred Review and featured in their list of the Top 100 Indie Books of 2025—with the all-ages adventure, LEO DA VINCI: RENAISSANCE KID, released by Papercutz on April 15, 2026 (Leonardo da Vinci’s actual birthday). Richard’s middle-grade horror story, FEARBOOK CLUB, was also named a Junior Library Guild Official Selection. Richard lives in Glendale, CA, with his wife, their two sons, and a Husky named Lulu.

After finishing his illustration studies in Buenos Aires, Pablo Andrés moved to Spain, where he began drawing comics and where he currently resides. His work has been published in Dark Horse Comics, Disney Comics, Insight Comics, Hugo Publishing and Z2 Comics. He is co-creator of the Webtoon Summer Lights, which was awarded a special mention.
