About the Authors

Paul Goldberg is a geologist, Professor Emeritus at Boston University, and Affiliated Professor of Geoarchaeology and Senior Researcher in the Institute of Archaeological Science (INA) at the University of Tรผbingen. He has carried out geoarchaeological research ranging from Quaternary landscapes and associated archaeological sites in the Near East, California, and Texas, to cave sediments in China, South Africa, Europe, and the USA.

Richard Macphail is a Senior Research Fellow at University College London, investigating archaeological sediments, soils, and occupation deposits across Europe, especially Scandinavia and also provides some worldwide examples. He was a researcher for English Heritage for 20 years, and was Professor Invitรฉ at Universitรฉ de Tours.

Chris Carey is a geoarchaeologist and archaeological scientist, and is currently a Principal Lecturer at the University of Brighton, where he is a specialist in remote sensing and mapping.

Yijie Zhuang is Associate Professor at Institute of Archaeology, University College London, who has added to numerous studies of Far Eastern sites.
