Nona & Me

Nona & Me tells the story of Rosie and Nona, who are more than just sisters. They are Yapas, which means they are connected not only by family but also by a profound friendship. Despite their different backgrounds—Rosie being white and Nona Aboriginal—their bond is unbreakable, fortified by familial ties set for life.

Born just five days apart in a remote corner of the Northern Territory, the two girls are inseparable until Nona moves away at the age of nine. By the time she returns, the dynamics have shifted. Now in Year 10, Rosie finds herself losing interest in the community, drawn instead to the allure of the nearby mining town. She attends school there with the fashionable Selena and her strikingly attractive older brother, Nick.

The story intensifies when a political announcement brings to the forefront the tensions between the Aboriginal community and the mining town. Rosie faces a challenging dilemma: will she be compelled to choose between her newfound love and her oldest, dearest friend?
