In this list there really is a bit of everything - coming of age stories, magical stories about enemies to lovers, boarding school drama, LGBTQ+. funny, heartbreaking, and everything in-between. Some of these are older and some are brand new, but all of them are Young Adult (no super spicy scenes here!) and all include a romance storyline to swoon over.

Counting Down with Theodore Brown

Counting Down with Theodore Brown

LizzyNew local voice who nails a coming of age story Counting Down with Theodore Brown is not my usual genre but I absolutely adored every page of this novel about Theodore Brown, a 19 year old navigating the challenges of love and life, mental health and friendships. On top of all of that Theodore also has the complicated addition of being able to see a number in people's eyes that reveals how long they will be in his life. This book is perfect if, like me, you love John Green's coming of age stories, or if Perks of Being a Wallflower made you feel seen unlike anything else. It's life affirming, full of lovable characters and great lines that had me laughing out loud.

Looking For Alaska

The unmissable first novel from bestselling and award-winning author of The Fault in Our Stars and Turtles All the Way Down. “In the dark beside me, she smelled of sweat and sunshine and vanilla and on that thin-mooned night I could see little more than her silhouette, but even in the dark, I could see her eyes – fierce emeralds. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

DylanI read this book as an adult and still thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a story of two teenage boys trying to figure themselves out - whilst overcoming internalised homophobia, fear of rejection and navigating the line between friendship and something more. The book is beautifully written and it’s hard to not be inspired by the story and the characters. An easy read that I’d recommend to adults and young people alike.
