Age range 12 to 18

I Shall Awaken is a young adult mystery horror that transports readers to a remote borderline village in an intentionally unspecified place and time, where people still adhere to their own rules and maintain a belief in old gods.

Twelve years ago, four children vanished without a trace. Now, during the winter solstice, three of them—Astrid, Tom, and Sonja—have inexplicably returned as teenagers, yet with no memory of what happened to them.

The trio must unite to confront the villagers' prejudice and to uncover the truth of their disappearance, as well as the whereabouts of the fourth missing child, Astrid's brother Max. The twelve nights following the winter solstice are the most perilous time of the year, as the border between the human world and the underworld becomes tantalisingly thin.

The young adults will soon learn that the ghosts from their nightmares are all too real, waiting eagerly for them.
