Finite Element Analyses of Eddy Current Effects in Turbogenerators

Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
Finite Element Analyses of Eddy Current Effects in Turbogenerators provides a thorough exploration of eddy currents—induced currents occurring in metallic regions exposed to alternating magnetic fields. The book delves into the fundamental principles of eddy currents and their practical applications, focusing especially on their impact in large turbogenerators. It presents detailed finite-element techniques developed by the author to analyse both steady-state and transient heating effects in turbogenerators ranging from 120 MW to 500 MW under fault conditions.

This book is ideal for engineering professionals, researchers, and advanced students specialising in electrical engineering, power generation, and electromagnetic analysis, particularly those working with turbogenerators and related equipment.

Book Hero thinking about your next read

Book focusses on study of various aspects of eddy currents, from the basic phenomenon to their utilization in various applications, and their detrimental effects, esp. in large Turbogenerators. It gives details of the finite‐element technique(s) to analyse the steady‐state and transient heating of key regions of turbogenerators.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Eddy currents, so-called owing to their general shape like "eddies", manifest as induced currents in all metallic—magnetic or non-magnetic—regions exposed to time-varying or generally alternating magnetic fields, whether of power or higher frequencies. It is imperative to apply appropriate analyses to assess the magnitude and consequences of induced eddy currents as required.

Therefore, Finite Element Analyses of Eddy Current Effects in Turbogenerators aims at a comprehensive study of various aspects of eddy currents, offering a detailed account of the basic phenomenon, their utilisation in various applications, and their detrimental effects, especially in large turbogenerators.

This book provides a detailed description of the finite-element technique(s) developed by the author to analyse the steady-state and transient heating of key regions of turbogenerators, with ratings from 120 MW to 500 MW, when exposed to "negative-sequence" currents under unbalanced fault conditions.
