Done Dirt Cheap
A gritty and poignant YA novel about two young women who form an unlikely bond in a corrupt southern town
Done Dirt Cheap by Sarah Lemon introduces us to Tourmaline Harris, whose life hit pause at fifteen when her mum went to prison because of Tourmaline's unintentionally damning testimony.
By eighteen, Tourmaline's home life has stabilised, and she enjoys a strong relationship with her father, the president of a local biker club known as the Wardens.
In contrast, Virginia Campbell's life accelerated at fifteen, when her mum "sold" her into the services of Hazard, a powerful attorney for whom the law is merely a suggestion.
When Hazard targets the Wardens, he sends Virginia to infiltrate the club, intending for her to sell out both the club and Tourmaline.
However, the two girls prove stronger than the circumstances that brought them together, and their resilience defines the friendship at the heart of this powerful debut novel.
