Concrete Pavement Design, Construction, and Performance

Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
Concrete Pavement Design, Construction, and Performance by Norbert J. Delatte is an essential guide for pavement engineers, focusing on fundamental principles rather than specific cases. The second edition includes new chapters on sustainability, mechanistic-empirical design, pervious concrete pavements, and roller compacted concrete (RCC) pavements. It covers material selection, mixture proportioning, design, drainage, construction techniques, and pavement performance, with case studies and examples illustrating key concepts. Readers will find extensive coverage of innovations such as two-lift concrete pavements, precast systems, interlocking pavers, thin pavement designs, as well as insights into pavement management, maintenance, rehabilitation, and overlays.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

This second edition of Concrete Pavement Design, Construction, and Performance provides a solid foundation for pavement engineers seeking relevant and applicable design and construction instruction. It relies on general principles instead of specific ones and incorporates illustrative case studies and prime design examples to highlight the material. It presents a thorough understanding of materials selection, mixture proportioning, design and detailing, drainage, construction techniques, and pavement performance. It also offers insight into the theoretical framework underlying commonly used design procedures as well as the limits of their applicability. All chapters have been updated to reflect recent developments, including some alternative and emerging design technologies that improve sustainability.

Whatโ€™s New in the Second Edition:

The second edition of this book contains a new chapter on sustainability, as well as coverage of mechanistic-empirical design and pervious concrete pavements. RCC pavements are now given a new chapter. The text also expands the industrial pavement design chapter.

  • Outlines alternatives for concrete pavement solutions
  • Identifies desired performance and behaviour parameters
  • Establishes appropriate materials and desired concrete proportions
  • Presents steps for translating the design into a durable facility

The book highlights significant innovations such as two-lift concrete pavements, precast concrete pavement systems, RCC pavement, interlocking concrete pavers, thin concrete pavement design, and pervious concrete. This text also addresses pavement management, maintenance, rehabilitation, and overlays.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Structures and Buildings praises the book as a comprehensive and valuable academic resource that combines theoretical insights with practical innovations, suitable for professionals, researchers, teachers, and students. Wayne Adaska from the Portland Cement Association describes it as the most comprehensive single-source reference on concrete pavements, covering design, mixture, construction, and performance thoroughly.
