Bangkok Bites captures the fire, fragrance and colour of Bangkok’s legendary street-food scene with authentic, easy-to-make Thai recipes that bring the city’s markets, noodle stalls and late-night food streets home.
Bring the buzz of Bangkok’s legendary street-food scene into your kitchen with more than 50 quick-and-easy recipes inspired by Thailand’s vibrant capital. From fragrant noodle soups and fiery curries to punchy stir-fries, fresh salads, grilled skewers and sweet, coconut-rich desserts, Bangkok Bites celebrates the bold, aromatic flavours that make the city one of the world’s great foodie destinations.
Bangkok’s food is bright, generous and full of contrast, where sweet, sour, salty and spicy flavours collide in dishes shaped by Thai tradition, Chinese wok cooking, regional influences and the city’s electric night-market culture. With essential tips for cooking Thai food, visual ingredient glossaries and accessible recipes, this book makes it easy to recreate the dishes you dream about after travelling, using ingredients from your local supermarket, Asian grocer or everyday food store.
Organised into chapters on rice; noodles; soups, sides and salads; curries; stir-fries; and sharing and sweet dishes, the book includes street-food favourites and Thai comfort-food classics such as chicken pad Thai, crab fried rice, easy boat noodles, spicy Thai hot soup with shrimp, coconut milk chicken soup, spicy green papaya salad, massaman chicken curry, green curry seabass, minced pork and holy basil stir-fry, crying tiger beef, marinated pork skewers, chicken satay, mango sticky rice and banana in coconut milk.
Made for relaxed lunches, lively dinners and dishes to share, Bangkok Bites brings the markets, noodle stalls and late-night food streets of Bangkok home. Colourful, flavour-packed and full of energy, it is perfect for anyone who wants to recreate the fire, fragrance and fun of Thailand’s most exciting food city in their own kitchen.
