Raine is a member of the Draoihn, a sect of powerful magic users who hold the realm together in precarious balance. But Raine has a secret. She can see the dead, and her forbidden magic could get her killed by the very people she counts as friends.

As Raine works desperately to hide her gift, rebellious lords across the land threaten anarchy in the wake of the king's failing health, and she is pulled into a web of treachery and deceit even the most powerful of magic users would struggle to navigate.
