Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

A comprehensive guide with recipes for making your own lustres and techniques for applying and firing them.

A lustre is a thin layer of metal deposited onto the surface of the pot during firing, producing a lustrous surface. Lustres are highly sought after, creating fabulous surfaces that can captivate and enchant. They can appear in colours such as golds, coppers, reds, and blues, or as a colourless sheen similar to mother of pearl.

Although lustre involves complex techniques, this handbook explains and simplifies the process of creating various types of lustre for you to enjoy producing spectacular results. The book offers various recipes for making your own lustres and techniques for applying and firing. It also shows the results of Greg Daly’s extensive testing, guiding you in the right direction.

One of the most commonly used lustres today is a resin lustre (known as the β€˜commercial’ lustre), which contains some dangerous carcinogens in the thinners. Therefore, there is an advantage to making your own lustre using more natural materials, providing you with an infinite variety of effects.
