DescriptionIn Berserk Volume 28 by Kentaro Miura, Guts, the formidable Black Swordsman, stands on the brink of yet another tumultuous chapter in his saga. Alongside his eclectic band of travellers, Guts finds himself finally reaching the expansive sea, a symbol of freedom and a potential path to safety. However, tranquillity is fleeting in the world of Berserk, and as shadows loom over the calm waters, danger is never far behind.
The narrative introduces a mysterious child who shares an enigmatic connection with Guts and his tormented former lover, Casca. This bond unfolds amidst a backdrop of introspection and the forging of deeper ties within their troupe. As the group savours these rare, peaceful moments by the shore, their brief respite is shattered by a looming threat. The oppressive magic of a formidable Kushan sorcerer casts a sinister pall over the serene landscape, conjuring bloodthirsty creatures from the depths of the ocean’s once-tranquil surf.
Faced with this deadly menace, Guts is forced to once again embrace the formidable Berserker Armor—a garment of immense power and the source of his legendary fury. Yet, the armor comes with its own perilous cost, as it strains Guts’ mind to its breaking point. The ensuing battle is not just one of physical might against the malignant beasts but also a test of will, threatening to consume Guts' humanity.
Drama unfolds within Guts’ group as internal conflicts arise, leading one member towards an inadvertent and dangerous alliance with a cunning adversary. As battles rage and loyalty is tested, Berserk Volume 28 explores themes of friendship, trust, and the struggle against one’s own inner demons.

About the Author
While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
