DescriptionIn the hauntingly compelling pages of Berserk Volume 5 by Kentaro Miura, the epic saga of Guts, the Black Swordsman, continues with unrelenting ferocity. As a warrior of unparalleled strength and unwavering resolve, Guts is driven by a singular purpose: to exact revenge on the demonic forces that have branded him for sacrifice. Among his most despised adversaries is Griffith, once a charismatic and revered leader of the Band of the Hawk, now a demon lord of the Godhand.
This volume delves deeper into the dark and perilous world that Miura has masterfully crafted—a realm where human ambitions intertwine with supernatural horrors. Guts, once the most formidable fighter among the Hawks, now finds himself grappling with the shadows of his past and the monstrous realities of the present.
The narrative escalates when the indomitable Guts comes face-to-face with Nosferatu Zodd, a creature of otherworldly might and merciless cruelty. Zodd embodies the raw, unchecked power of the demonic realm, leaving a trail of death in his wake. His confrontation with Guts and Griffith is a battle of sheer survival, pushing the boundaries of courage and determination to their limits.
Yet, amidst this carnage, questions linger about Griffith's mysterious past and the eerie behelit amulet that he carries. This enigmatic talisman hints at a destiny intertwined with dark forces, promising to alter the fates of all involved. As Guts faces these existential threats, the stakes are raised, setting the stage for even more breathtaking developments in this saga.
Berserk Volume 5 is a riveting continuation of Miura's celebrated series, intertwining moments of intense action with profound themes of loyalty, ambition, and the struggle against fate. The art, rich with detail and evocative depth, captures the intense emotional and physical turbulence of Guts' journey, drawing readers ever deeper into this grim yet captivating narrative.

About the Author
While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
