Berserk Volume 12
The Band of the Hawks' rescue of their leader, Griffith, has brought them no ease. Broken beyond healing, a frail ghost of his former glory, Griffith is now more an object of pity than a man, and the Hawks, who've grimly hung together under duress and death during his absence, are now on the verge of splintering to the winds.

DescriptionIn Berserk Volume 12, the gripping dark fantasy epic continues as Guts and the Band of the Hawk confront their most perilous challenges yet. Following a harrowing mission to rescue their imprisoned leader, Griffith, the Hawks anticipated a moment of reprieve. However, their hopes are cruelly dashed when they find Griffith irrevocably broken, a shadow of his former self. Physically and emotionally shattered, Griffith's transformation from a charismatic commander to a pitiable figure weighs heavily on the warriors who once rallied fiercely under his banner.
The Band of the Hawk stands at a crossroads, their unity fraying under the relentless pressures of their grim reality. Despite enduring countless battles and sacrifices, their strength and resolve are being tested like never before. Questions arise about their future and whether they can remain a cohesive fighting force without the strong leadership Griffith once embodied. As tensions mount and loyalties waver, the Hawks face potential dissolution.
Amid this turmoil, the enigmatic treachery of the supernatural world begins to unfurl. Griffith's ambitions, the dreams upon which he built his formidable army, have drawn the watchful eyes of otherworldly entities. The forces of the spirit realm, captivated by Griffith's unyielding resolve and the mountains of corpses left in his wake, offer him a glimmer of hope through a sinister path. His destiny may yet take a dark and unforeseen turn, one that promises power beyond the mortal coil but at a dire cost.
As Griffith grapples with his new reality, Guts and the remaining Hawks are thrust into a nightmarish conflict that will force them to confront not only external foes but also their inner demons. About the Author
While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
