The Worth of Water

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

From the creative collaboration of actor Matt Damon and engineer Gary White, The Worth of Water presents an extraordinary narrative about their shared mission to eliminate the global water crisis. Born from their work with the nonprofits Water.org and WaterEquity, this compelling book chronicles the dynamic journey of two determined individuals who unite with a steadfast conviction that everyone, everywhere should have access to safe water and sanitation.

On any given morning, you might wake up and shower with water, make your coffee with water, flush your toilet with water – and think nothing of it. But around the world, more than three-quarters of a billion people can't do any of that – because they lack a reliable clean water source near their homes. Additionally, 1.7 billion people don’t have access to a toilet, affecting a third of the global population. This crisis keeps children out of school, hinders women's participation in the workforce, perpetuates extreme poverty, and spreads disease.

Despite the gravity of this situation, it is a problem that can be solved. This belief is what brought Matt Damon, a world-renowned actor and an avid advocate for social causes, together with Gary White, a leading water and sanitation expert. Over the years, through persistent endeavour and numerous trials, they have refined their approach to effectively address the issue. Their organisation, Water.org, collaborates with various partners in regions like East Africa, Latin America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, successfully helping over 40 million people gain access to water and sanitation.

In The Worth of Water, Gary and Matt offer readers a front-row seat to their ambitious journey. They share candid stories of their experiences, from the communities they aspire to uplift to the corridors of influence where crucial decisions are made. With a balance of humour and humility, they reveal the complexities and triumphs associated with pioneering a groundbreaking model in a field where the stakes include better health and greater prosperity for countless individuals worldwide.

This book not only showcases their fascinating journey but also serves as a call to action. It encourages readers to engage with this cause, to merge aspirations with tangible resources, and to empower families and communities, aspiring to conclusively tackle the global water crisis. Furthermore, demonstrating their unwavering commitment, all authors' proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Water.org.

The Worth of Water is more than just a book; it is an invitation to join a transformative movement, to make an indelible impact, and to support the ongoing fight for universal access to clean water and sanitation.
