Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken takes readers on an eye-opening journey through the modern food landscape, exposing the truth behind what we consume daily. In this gripping exploration, Chris delves into the world of Ultra-Processed Food (UPF) and its pervasive impact on our health, weight, and environment. From visiting food science labs to adopting a UPF diet himself, he provides a comprehensive look at what these substances are, how they have come to dominate our diets, and the covert methods used by the food industry to make them irresistible and ubiquitous.

Through meticulous research and personal anecdotes, Chris reveals the disconcerting realities of UPF. As he navigates through startling scientific findings and encounters with experts, Chris demonstrates why common solutions like exercise and willpower fall short in combating the adverse effects of UPF. The book's powerful narrative is enriched by Chris's compassionate perspective, advocating for a collective right to transparent information about our food and access to nutritious, affordable options.

Renowned food critic Bee Wilson praises the book: "If you only read one diet or nutrition book in your life, make it this one." Her endorsement sums up the book's invaluable insights and its potential to become a pivotal text in contemporary food discourse. Radio icon Chris Evans also adds, "You've got to get this book in your life . . . Completely compelling . . . Read a page and think about it for the rest of the week."

At its core, Ultra-Processed People is not just an exposé but a call to action. Chris van Tulleken champions the reader's right to be informed, pushing against the notion that personal choice is the primary culprit for dietary issues. Instead, he places the spotlight on the systemic food environment designed to trap us in unhealthy eating patterns. This book is a must-read for anyone looking to understand the pervasive influence of UPF and seeking to reclaim control over their diet and health.
