Codenames: Duet

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Codenames: Duet retains the basic elements of the Codenames game — providing one-word clues to prompt your partner to identify agents among those on the table. However, in this version, you work together as a team to locate all your agents.

(Why you don't already know who your agents are is a question that Congressional investigators will get on your back about later!)

To set up the game, lay out 25 word cards in a 5x5 grid. Place a key card in the holder so that each player views one side of the card. Each player sees a 5x5 grid on the card, with nine squares coloured green (representing your agents) and one square coloured black (representing an assassin). The assassin is placed differently on each side of the card, and three of the nine squares on each side are also green on the opposite side.

Collectively, you must reveal all fifteen agents — without uncovering either assassin or too many innocent bystanders — before time expires to win the game. Either player can opt to give a one-word clue to the other, along with a number. The recipient of the clue then places a finger on a card to identify that agent. If correct, they can try to identify another. If they reveal as many as the number indicated by the clue-giver, they can make one final guess, if they wish.

If a bystander is identified, the guessing session ends. If an assassin is identified, both players lose!
