About the Author

Greg Elliott is Dean of Australian National Institute of Management and Commerce (IMC) and was formerly Professor of Business (Marketing) in the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University, a position he held since 2005. Prior to this, he was a Professor of Management in the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
Greg has extensive experience in teaching marketing in Australia and overseas, in course program management in South-East Asia and as an advisor to higher education institutions. Before joining Macquarie University, he held academic appointments at the University of Technology, Sydney, the University of Western Australia and the University of Melbourne; and visiting appointments at Trinity College and University College, both in Dublin, Ireland.
Greg has published extensively in the academic marketing literature and his current research interests are in the fields of services marketing, marketing education, and international and tourism marketing. Prior to his academic career, Greg spent over a decade in the marketing research and marketing planning area of the banking industry.

Professor Sharyn Rundle-Thiele is a social marketer and behavioural scientist. She is the Founding Director of Social Marketing @ Griffith, which is the largest university-based group of social marketers in the world. She is Founding Co-Editor of the Journal of Social Marketing, one of the world's leading behavior change journals. She has led projects that have changed behaviours for tens of thousands of people in areas including health and the environment, and for complex social issues. Sharyn has led programs that have increased healthy eating, changed adolescent attitudes to alcohol drinking, reduced food waste, increased dogs' abilities to avoid koalas, and many more.

David Waller is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Marketing, University of Technology Sydney. David received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney, a Master of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and a PhD from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He has over 20 years of experience teaching marketing subjects at several universities, including the University of Newcastle, the University of New South Wales and Charles Sturt University. He has taught offshore programs in Malaysia and China. Prior to his academic career, David worked in the film and banking industries. David's research has included projects on marketing communications, advertising agency–client relationships, controversial advertising, international advertising, marketing ethics and marketing education.
He has published over 70 refereed journal articles in publications including the Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Marketing, International Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Marketing Communications. David has also authored or co-authored several books and workbooks that have been used in countries in the Asia–Pacific region, and is a regular presenter at local and international conferences.

Edward Bentrott is a lecturer in the Marketing Discipline Group at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), a position he has held since 2010. He received a Bachelor of Arts from UC Berkeley, a Master's degree in economics for the University of Iowa and received his PhD from UTS. Edward has extensive commercial experience and has worked for over 15 years in the analytics and data science industry. Prior to that, he worked in electronics manufacturing in production and quality assurance statistics in high volume manufacturing for five years. Edward remains active in the analytics industry and teaches predictive modelling seminars for corporate clients and recently created and deployed a data literacy course for corporate clients that is being used worldwide. Edward's area of research is using data science methods to boost the accuracy of the traditional marketing models. Specifically, he looks at ways to improve discrete choice models that contain unobserved heterogeneity, missing data, unknown data interactions, and large amounts of unstructured text and image data.

Siobhan Hatton-Jones is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Marketing at Curtin University with a strong passion for small business. Her experience in teaching varies from undergraduate to postgraduate level units in both the MBA and Luxury Masters programs and is currently leading the development of Executive Education programs for marketing in regional WA. She has been involved in numerous research consultancy projects for local Australian brands such as Gabriel Chocolate and Simmo's Ice Creamery as part of the Luxury Branding Consumer Research Lab, utilising biometric methodologies and world leading facilities such as The Hub for Immersive Visualisation and eResearch. Siobhan's current work is focused on cross-disciplinary and behavioural change research across a variety of grant funded projects within the Australia Pacific region. Siobhan has published in well-renowned journals and presented at international conferences in her field. She is actively serving in the academic community as participant in the organising committee of the Mystique of Luxury Brand International Conference (2016, 2017); visiting scholar at Burgundy School of Business in Dijon, France (2018); and ad hoc reviewer of various journals and conferences.

Pete Jeans is Chief Operating Officer at growth project leader β€” SMO β€” and a facilitator at the Australian Institute of Management MBA School of Business. He lectures, tutors and mentors for the School of Management and Marketing at Charles Sturt University. Pete is also Head of Ideas at IDEAgenda, which solves intractable and persistent business challenges.
For 28 years, Pete Jeans has delivered competitive profitable growth for clients through sustainable strategy, continuous innovation and the implementation of disruptive market positioning initiatives. Pete's background includes success as a senior manager in multinationals and Australian organisations, contributing to increased profitable growth.
In 1992, he founded SMO as a pioneer in outsourcing of strategic growth services.

Stephanie Joshua Anandappa has been an academic in the education sector for over 15 years. She also manages her own SME export business, primarily focusing on the South and South-East Asian market. In both business and teaching, marketing is her key area of focus. Stephanie has taught a number of different marketing subjects and developed curriculum at different education institutions. Currently, Stephanie is the Unit Leader for first-year Marketing at Monash College. Stephanie is a marketing consultant who provides advice on marketing plans, branding, digital marketing and developing strategies to augment client retention for projects and companies.

Pauline Campbell is both an experienced practitioner and academic whose experience spans high-level marketing management, new product and brand development, trade marketing, events and sponsorship, communication and team leadership roles. She has worked for some of the biggest and most recognized market-leading companies in Australia, predominately in the liquor and FMCG industries. Such brands and companies have included Woolworths, Fosters, Warner Bros., British American Tobacco, Bacardi, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Bundaberg Rum and Jack Daniels. More recently, she has founded her own consultancy business. As an academic, Pauline has over 11 years of experience in both the tertiary and vocational areas for various providers in Australia such as the University of New South Wales, Western Sydney University (as well as Online and The College) and TAFE NSW, but has more recently joined Coventry University in the United Kingdom as a Senior Teaching Fellow.
Pauline has a Master of Marketing (Distinction), Bachelor of Arts (Communication) and Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching (with academic excellence), and is a Certified Practising Marketer with the Australian Marketing Institute.
She is a passionate educator, contributing to the discussion paper, 'The pros and cons of using technology in teaching and learning', presented at Clute International Conference on Education (ICE), which was voted best presentation by academic peers in January 2019, Maui.
