Lizzy's Lists of Cookbooks!

I love a good list, and I love having a huge collection of cookbooks to help me nourish myself and the ones I love. Here are some lists about the cookbooks I love, hopefully at least one of them proves helpful for you too!

I have to give a shout out to one of our amazing customers (and now a friend!), the amazing Sunita. She comes in most weeks to browse the most beautiful cookbooks, and I often leave with a new one on my own wishlist. My own cookbook collection is nothing quite as impressive as hers, but it's definitely growing!

List One: My Top 10 Cookbooks

Lizzy

This list includes my ride-or-die cookbooks. The ones I give to friends and family, the ones I reach for most often, the ones that get most messy because they are always open while I'm cooking and suffering from ingredients flying loose (I'm a chaotic cook which will surprise no-one who knows me). These cookbooks are a bit of a variety - there's everything from my own friends amazing cookbook perfect for beginners, More Then Toast (I'm biased but these have the most delightful chocolate chip cookies), to the absolutely incredibly Elements of Baking that is a bit like my kitchen bible and a must buy for anyone who often adapts recipes for people with allergies or intolerances.

List Two: Cookbooks for Kids

Cookbooks for Kids

I love that there are such an amazing range of cookbooks for tamariki to get involved with making food and learning the skills involved in nourishing themselves early. Here are some favourites, covering a wide range - from Gruffalo inspired recipes, to Kitchen science! I think it's so important for kids to grow up involved in their meals - it not only means they often end up eating more (and more variety!) but means that as young adults leaving for university or for their first flat they aren't starting from scratch!

List Three: The Best Gluten Free Cookbooks

Gluten Free Cookbooks

I got diagnosed as Coeliac last year which came as a big surprise! Finding amazing Gluten Free cookbooks has really helped me embrace the change in diet and given me an enthusiasm for finding new recipes for my old favourites. Here's a collection of the ones I love (and the ones I really want to add to the collection!).

If you had to start with just one, I love everything Becky Excell does. She just makes eating GF feel easy and still delicious. Any of hers would make a great choice.

List Four: Cookbooks for Eating Plant-Based

Cookbooks for Eating Plant Based

I used to be vegan for a few years, and my husband still is. Now I eat vegetarian, he eats vegan, and my toddler basically survives off chicken nuggets and olive oil roasted broccoli (go figure). Safe to say meal times can be a challenge but here's a collection of my favourite cookbooks that make vegetables the hero, and help us cook more plant based meals.

List Five: Cookbooks for the Whānau

Cookbooks for the Whanau

These are the cookbooks that make feeding a busy whānau feel slightly easier, the ones I reach for for lunchtime snacks, easy and quick mid-week meals, and inspiration for when the cupboards are running low and the supermarket shop has been delayed! Nutritious, full of flavour, and perfect for the whole family!

Let me know what cookbook list you would make, or what would be on your cookbook favourites list!
