About the Author
Pam Roy, a writer, philanthropist, and filmmaker, and Moira Hummel, an attorney, a mentor, and a charitable board member, were inspired by Dr. Viktor E. Frankl's meaning-oriented philosophy and its potential to transform lives. Together, they cofounded the Viktor E. Frankl Institute of America with Dr. Frankl's grandson, Alexander Vesely-Frankl, a filmmaker and licensed psychotherapist specializing in logotherapy. Viktor E. Frankl was a professor of neurology and psychiatry at the University of Vienna Medical School until his death in 1997. During World War II he spent three years at Auschwitz, Dachau, and other concentration camps; most of his family, including his wife and parents, perished in the camps. Frankl is the author of over thirty books and was the recipient of twenty-nine honorary degrees. His book Man's Search for Meaning has been translated into over fifty languages, has sold over sixteen million copies globally, and was named one of the ten most influential books in the United States by the Library of Congress.
