The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - The Defaced Men
Sherlock Holmes delves into the world of early cinema as motion picture groundbreaker Eadweard Muybridge begs him to solve a mystery that will keep you up all night...
The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes - The Defaced Men takes Sherlock Holmes into the intriguing world of early cinema as motion picture pioneer Eadweard Muybridge seeks his help to unravel a mystery that promises to keep you up all night.
The year is 1896, and a new client arrives at Baker Street with a peculiar problem: he claims he's being threatened through the burgeoning art of the moving image. Muybridge, a trailblazer in motion picture projection, fears for his life after twice narrowly escaping being run down by the same mysterious carriage. Additionally, his lecture slides, which are closely guarded, have been tampered with. Each time he presents them to his audience, he discovers, to his horror, that images depicting himself have been defaced just before each lecture begins.
As Holmes and Watson delve deeper into the investigation, they encounter a maze of clues that only intensifies the mystery. Meanwhile, newspaper speculation reaches a frenzy, threatening the great detective's reputation unless he can solve a mystery rooted in capturing figures in motion for the first time and the marvels of the new cinematograph.
