Introducing our first Book Hero Ambassador Jade!

We have some very exciting news to share! We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce Jade, AKA @nzbooktokgirl, as our first ever Book Hero Ambassador!

Jade has been part of the Book Hero community right from the very beginning, supporting us since we first launched two years ago. If you already follow her on Instagram, you’ll know she creates the most beautiful bookish content, has built a wonderful community of fellow readers, always has a great recommendation ready to add to your TBR, and has a STUNNING collection of special editions that will give you serious bookshelf envy!

Most importantly, Jade is a genuinely lovely book lover who shares the same excitement about books, special editions and discovering a brilliant new read that we do. We couldn’t think of a better person to become our very first ambassador.

Jade will be working with us to bring you curated reading lists, awesome blogs and a weekly social media collaboration where you can expect recommendations, reviews, special editions and plenty more bookish goodness.

Before all of that begins, we thought we’d properly introduce her! We asked Jade a few questions about books, reading and what becoming our first Book Hero Ambassador means to her.

Tell us a little about yourself and what you do outside of reading.

I am a mum of three beautiful kiddies. When I’m not reading or in the chaos of motherhood, I love going for walks out in nature or heading out to the op shops, with an iced coffee in hand of course! Or honestly, just enjoying the peace and quiet 🤣

What is the most beautiful or special book in your collection?

Ahhh, this is such a hard question as I have A LOT of special editions to pick from! But my favourite sprayed edge would have to be the deluxe edition of ‘For Whom the Belle Tolls’. It’s absolutely beautiful. It caught my eye in Book Hero and I bought it straight away!

How did your love of books begin? What are some of your all-time favourite books?

I loved reading as a child. The first series that truly captured my heart was Enid Blyton’s ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ series. It was whimsical and magical, and I truly felt like I was a part of that world. In my teenage years, reading was a way of escaping reality for a while and I was in my dystopian era.

I stopped reading for about 10 years until I was postpartum with my second child and feeling a bit lost. I remembered that I used to read ALL the time. I had seen ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ around and decided to give it a read.

Not only did I get that feeling I had when I was a child, ACOTAR reignited my love of reading again. It’s been about four years and 280 books later 🤣

What are your favourite genres to read?

I love romantasy. It’s by far my favourite! But I do enjoy a great thriller or mystery for a palate cleanser. I also love self-help books!

What book have you read recently that you couldn’t put down?

‘The Poison Daughter’. It’s a standalone that I read in one sitting because I actually could not put it down. It was full of plot twists and betrayals, and anyone she kisses dies... it was so good!

What book are you most excited to read next?

I’m not counting or anything, but it’s almost a month until ‘A Court of Splintered Harmony’ and then, in January, ‘A Court of Forgotten Melody’. It’s been such a long time since a new ACOTAR book has come out and I CANNOT WAIT!

What does being a Book Hero Ambassador mean to you?

Being a Book Hero Ambassador truly means so much to me. Words can’t even express how grateful and appreciative I am.

As a girly who just started out by sharing her book recommendations, favourite reads and beautiful special editions on Instagram, being asked by my favourite book company, which I genuinely love because of the amazing people behind it (they are truly the kindest souls), feels incredibly special.

Being a Book Hero Ambassador isn’t just about sharing the books and pretty pictures. It’s about sharing the excitement of new releases, supporting the growth of Book Hero and being part of the beautiful bookish community that Book Hero has created, an added bonus that makes reading that much more special.

Being the very first Book Hero Ambassador makes it even more meaningful to me. I’m so excited for this next chapter for Book Hero and me, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us.

It feels particularly special that our first ambassador is someone who has been there supporting Book Hero since our earliest days. Two years, hundreds of books and one very exciting new chapter later, we can’t wait to see what comes next.
