See moreThe Charmed Garden at Broughton Hall is a celebration of the natural landscape, human connection and endeavour, and the sheer beauty of plants. It is also a story of transformation—from urban life to rural, from agricultural land to cultivated paradise, from humility to awe.
The book traces, in words and photographs, the passion and toils of a physiotherapist and a garden designer working in harmony to transform the blank canvas of a Gippsland farm into a place of breathtaking inspiration. Broughton Hall is the residence that Philip Hunter and David Musker designed as a sumptuous and stylish home. However, it is the home’s gardens and vistas that are the true hero of this beautifully illustrated book.
The garden at Broughton Hall—an embodiment of the famous Aristotelian adage that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts—is a feast for the eye, a place of horticultural wonder, and a charmed oasis capable of transporting even the weariest of souls to a level of previously unimagined vitality.

About the Author
Philip Hunter was born in Fremantle, Western Australia, and lived in the bush until he moved to Victoria at the age of seven. A trained physiotherapist, he has had a lifelong interest in energy healing, meditation and nature – interests that have defined his existence. Philip has lived at Jindivick for almost three decades. There, in partnership with David Musker, he has created the garden at Broughton Hall. Now Philip’s focus is on using this triumphant garden to promote peace through an understanding and healing of individual people, and by teaching the transformative power of beauty, nature and self-acceptance.
