The Ballot, the Streets—or Both by August H. Nimtz, Jr. uncovers an approach that attempts to find a balance between plain opportunism and anarchist rejections of the electoral arena.

Instead of dismissing electoral campaigns, they are seen as crucial for developing political education and organisation. These campaigns offer a key method to gauge your forces and communicate effectively with the wider population.

As radical left reformist projects, exemplified by figures like Sanders and Corbyn, once again rise to political prominence, the left is prompted to reconsider what it means to run for office in a capitalist state. It is an opportune moment to reflect on how the left has historically navigated these debates.
