Steel of the Celestial Shadows, Vol. 4
Down-and-out samurai Ryudo Konosuke has a supernatural gift, but it is a power that has ruined his life.
Steel of the Celestial Shadows, Vol. 4 introduces Ryudo Konosuke, a down-and-out samurai with a supernatural gift that has been more of a curse than a blessing.
Living in early 19th-century Japan, Konosuke struggles with a hardscrabble existence. Tradition holds that a samurai's spirit resides within their sword, yet Konosuke cannot even hold one. A cruel curse repels anything made of metal that comes close to him. Destitute and hopeless, he resolves to end his suffering. However, his fate takes a turn when a mysterious and beautiful woman intervenes, saving both his life and soul. This encounter marks the start of Konosuke's journey into a world of magic that lies just beyond his own.
While his supernatural gift has ruined his life, Konosuke must navigate the double-edged nature of his power. For those endowed with such gifts, they grant incredible abilities yet also present the threat of becoming overwhelming. Following an escape from assassins, Konosuke and his ally Aki grapple with not losing themselves to their respective powers.
A new ally eventually reveals the hidden tale of Lord Haretake of the Tsuchimikado clan. Driven by love, Konosuke is determined to find his beloved Tsuki. However, Lord Haretake has his own sinister intentions, needing Tsuki's divine power for dark purposes.
