Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

With Sheet Pan Science, contain the mess but let the fun overflow with 25 safe, easy physics, biology, and chemistry projects. Each project in the book contains simple instructions, easy-to-understand science explanations, and step-by-step photographic instructions.

While a stovetop or freezer may occasionally be required, most steps of the experiments can be performed directly on a rimmed baking sheet. Messy play is important for young learners. Mixing colours, creating bubbly chemical reactions, and playing with goo are visual and tactile experiences that create strong memory pathways.

In addition to allowing kids to explore and hone problem-solving skills, science experimentation encourages curiosity and engages a sense of wonder. A sheet pan and a few simple ingredients will instantly transform any kitchen countertop into a laboratory bench filled with fizzy fun.

The projects in Sheet Pan Science cater to a wide range of interests. While some kids love getting their hands into cornstarch goo, others will enjoy creating colourful tie-dye milk. Using a lemon, aspiring geologists can test rock collections to see whether they contain limestone.

Art lovers may gravitate towards fabric dying and leaf prints, while budding chefs can play with edible experiments. Ice Globes create a colourful explosion of carbon dioxide gas foaming from hollow frozen spheres. Engage your child with hours of science fun and learning.

About the Author

Liz Lee Heinecke has loved science since she was old enough to inspect her first butterfly. After working in molecular biology research for 10 years and earning her master's degree, she left the lab to kick off a new chapter in her life as a stay-at-home mom. Soon, she found herself sharing her love of science with her three kids as they grew, chronicling their science adventures on her KitchenPantryScientist website. Her desire to share her enthusiasm for science led to regular television appearances, an opportunity to serve as an Earth Ambassador for NASA, and the creation of an iPhone app. Her goal is to make it simple for parents to do science with kids of all ages, and for kids to experiment safely on their own. Liz graduated from Luther College and received her master's degree in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She is the author of Kitchen Science Lab for Kids, Kitchen Science Lab for Kids: Edible Edition, Outdoor Science Lab for Kids, STEAM Lab for Kids, Sheet Pan Science, and Little Learning Labs: Kitchen Science for Kids. Her namesake series, The Kitchen Pantry Scientist, pairs illustrated biographies with engaging hands-on activities inspired by their work. The books in that series include: Chemistry for Kids, Biology for Kids, and Physics for Kids.
