Description
Abu Dhabi, 2008. In a glittering desert city on the brink of financial crisis, three expats are marooned.
When Lily, a young Australian botanical artist, suffers a devastating medical emergency, her marriage fractures, driving her into the orbit of a charismatic neighbour. Hugo is an older psychotherapist who has fled a trail of ugly rumours in Melbourne. Observing them both from the margins is Celeste, a Filipina housemaid working to secure her son's future. When Hugo's appetite for control turns abusive, Celeste faces a choice that could cost her everything.
Out of Place is a sharp, unsettling psychological portrait of power, class, gender and the high cost of survival for those far from home.
