About the Author

Wendy Guest worked in the media office of NSW Premier Barrie Unsworth as a communicationconsultant to the ALP and in the Prime Minister’s Office as speech writer and media assistant toAnnita Keating in the 1990s. She is currently a freelance writer in Sydney.

Gary Gray AO was National Secretary of the ALP from 1993 to 2000 and the Member for Brand,holding both cabinet and shadow cabinet positions, from 2007 to 2016. Gough and Gary had an active,friendly, often humorous relationship for more than 30 years.
