Description

‘Here is storytelling at its best, the story utterly mesmerising and deeply touching’ Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse ‘A heartfelt adventure set in the snowy Finnish wonderlands. Sensitively written, this is bound to appeal to animal lovers everywhere’ Hannah Gold, author of The Last Bear ‘Beautifully drawn setting with a touching friendship at its core’ Elle McNicoll, author of A Kind of Spark

Lumi and the Wolf follows Lumi, who is far from thrilled when her parents send her to stay in Lapland with her aunt and uncle—especially because being autistic makes it hard for her to adjust to a new place. But everything changes when she befriends a lone white wolf. When hunters threaten his life, Lumi makes a brave decision to save him by leading him to a national park.

Scouting a trail through the frozen wilderness, making camp in cosy hiking cabins, and even trying saunas and ice-swimming, Lumi begins to open up to Lapland and even accepts the help of local boy Oskar. But with danger at their heels, can they find safety in time—and a place to belong?

An unforgettable story about discovering your strengths and finding your place in the world, written by a Finnish neurodivergent storyteller. Featuring illustrated pages from Lumi’s forest diary. More praise for Lumi and the Wolf: ‘A thrilling adventure full of warmth, friendship and page-turning excitement’ Pari Thomson, author of Greenwild ‘A gorgeous winter adventure’ Abi Elphinstone, author of Sky Song ‘A warm hug of a book. A true joy of a read’ JJ Arcanjo, author of the Crookhaven series ‘So pacey and full of heart’ Jacob North, author of Ice Apprentices ‘A heart-warming, beautifully written adventure that fans of Hannah Gold and Lui Sit will love’ Philippa Leathley, author of Inkbound ‘Destined to be a classic of children's literature. Complete wonder, utter magic’ Lizzie Huxley-Jones, author of the Vivi Conway series ‘A brilliant adventure full of love, animals and friendship. I was hooked immediately’ Matilda, 10 years old ‘The must-buy children's book of the year!!!’ Liliana, Waterstones bookseller ‘I just absolutely adored it’ Anna Zoe Quirke, author of Something to be Proud Of ‘Spellbinding, sensitively written and sweeps you away from the very first page’ Mel Taylor-Bessent, author of The Christmas Carrolls series ‘Hannah Gold meets Elle McNicoll with a sprinkle of Moomin midwinter magic’ Claire Hatcher-Smith, author of The Mizzy Mysteries series
