Experience the darkly captivating world of Lapvona, the latest novel by Ottessa Moshfegh, celebrated author of the bestselling sensation My Year of Rest and Relaxation. Slip into a medieval village where nature's wrath and human depravity collide, challenging the boundaries of faith, power, and morality.

In Lapvona, a young shepherd boy named Marek navigates a harsh existence in a village ravaged by natural disasters and ruled by a despotic leader. Marek, orphaned and isolated, becomes entangled in a vicious power struggle that tests the very fabric of his beliefs. As the villagers grapple with famine, disease, and spiritual turmoil, Marek's journey unveils the grotesque depths of human nature and the staggering resilience of the human spirit.

Drawing readers into a richly constructed world, Moshfegh paints a vivid and unsettling portrait of medieval life marked by savage inequities and desperate survival. The narrative weaves together a gallery of unforgettable characters, each flawed and intriguing in their own right, creating a morally complex and thought-provoking story that lingers long after the final page.
