Irish Famine by E. G. Ruttledge is a revelatory examination of the Irish "famine". A misnomer if ever there was one.

The book dissects the well-known story with a razor-sharp intellect, novel historical insights, and the passion of a writer at the height of his powers. It aspires to be as influential as "The Great Hunger", the best-selling Irish history book of all time. Ruttledge claims this is the penultimate book on the Irish famine-Holocaust.

He tells the story with great passion and enthusiasm for the subject. The reader starts with ancient Ireland and quickly learns about Ireland's critical role in developing the foundations of both Europe and Christendom. The narrative then moves to pre-famine Ireland, before delving into the horrific Irish Famine itself, recounted like never before.

This book makes a clean sweep of the traditional Famine story, bringing it into the Twenty-First century with a crisp, analytical style that is highly engaging. If you think you know about the Irish Famine, think again! Prepare to be bowled over by a magisterial sweep of a familiar tale, which is unceremoniously tossed into the delete bin of Famine historiography.

This book delivers robust vigour, panache, probity, and bare-faced honesty for those seeking the truth.
