Insects of Stored Grain by David Rees is a pocket reference designed to assist non-specialists in identifying major insect and arachnid pests found in stored cereal grains, grain products, and grain legumes. The book provides descriptions of most storage pests encountered worldwide, offering concise information on the biology, distribution, damage, and economic importance of each species.
Each entry in the book includes at least one colour photograph. Detailed notes for each species describe the nature of the pest or beneficial insect, the commodities affected, and the temperature and humidity conditions in which the species can survive. The book also explains the optimum conditions for the shortest development time from egg to adult and outlines the maximum population growth rate per month.
This new edition of Insects of Stored Grain features twice as many species as the previous edition, with added details on distribution, host range, and pest status. Additionally, introductory sections on insect biology, principles of control, and concepts of pest status evaluation have been included to provide a comprehensive overview.
