This book really is what you expect it to be. It’s a lovely romance between two characters that you are on the side of from the beginning. The trips and pitfalls along the way don’t seem forced, the affection feels real, and at no point does the book try to be too grand for its boots. There’s some fun takes on fantasy tropes that will make you smile, and lots of heartwarming moments. Suitable for any audience. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

‘How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days’ is a wonderful and whimsical book set in a land of dwarves, goblins, halflings and humans. The characters are interesting and the story unfolds at a good pace. Sylva has added small details into her writing that grab your attention and spark the imagination. While the story does follow an opposites-attract romance theme, it also brings in underlying themes of belonging and seeking your place in your world. Sylva has crafted a story that would resonant with us all on some level.

I really enjoyed the storyline, it was different enough from the typical opposites-attract theme to keep me wanting to find out how it was all going to end. A few random and evil characters thrown in to add a bit of excitement and a laugh - all in all it’s a great little book. If you enjoy a good book to curl up and read with a bit of a fantasy, then I would recommend reading this. Suitable for all audiences, no warnings needed.
