About the Author

Rakesh Kumar Bachheti graduated from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna University, Garhwal, India, in 1996. He completed his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the same university in 1998. Later, in 2001, he underwent a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Pulp and Paper Technology from Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India. Subsequently, he pursued his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Kumaun University, Nainital, India, which he obtained in 2007. Bachheti has a total research and teaching experience of 22 years. Before joining Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU) in Ethiopia, he worked as Assistant Dean of Projects at Graphic Era University in Dehradun, India. It is worth noting that Graphic Era University is accredited with an โ€˜A+โ€™ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Bachheti is also a Research Fellow at INTI International University, Persiaran Perdana BBN, Putra Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Bachheti has an impressive research background and has presented papers at various international (Malaysia, Thailand, and India) and national conferences. He has also been an active member of important committees like the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Anti-ragging Committee. His research interests primarily focus on natural products for industrial applications, biofuels and bioenergy, green synthesis of nanoparticles and their applications, and pulp and paper technology. His passion for natural products is evident in all of his research endeavours. As an academic mentor, Bachheti has successfully advised 40 M.Sc. and 6 Ph.D. students to completion. Additionally, numerous undergraduates have conducted research in his laboratory under his guidance. He actively contributes to curriculum development for B.Sc./M.Sc./Ph.D. programs. Bachheti is also recognized for his editorial work, having edited 8 books and authored 175 publications on various aspects of natural product chemistry and nanotechnology. He has contributed 40 book chapters published by prestigious publishers like Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and Nova Publishers. He is listed among the Top 2% Scientists for the years 2024 and 2025 by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier.

Archana Bachheti completed her B.Sc. in 1997 and M.Sc. in 1999 from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. She earned her Ph.D. from the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, India, in 2006. Currently, she is a Professor at Graphic Era University in Dehradun, India. With over 20 years of extensive experience, she has served in various academic roles in India and has also provided expertise internationally. Her teaching portfolio includes subjects such as ecology and environment, environmental science, freshwater ecology, disaster management, and bryophytes and pteridophytes. Professor Bachhetiโ€™s research interests span a broad and interdisciplinary field of plant ecology, with a focus on ecorestoration, green chemistry โ€“ particularly the synthesis of nanomaterials โ€“ and exploring the medicinal properties of plants. Her research has involved ecological restoration of degraded lands, studying the physical and chemical properties of plant oils, and investigating plant-based nanomaterials. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in mentoring students and researchers. Dr. Bachheti has published more than150 research papers and edited over10 books. She is listed among the Top 2% Scientists for the year 2024 by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier.

Azamal Husen has served as Full Professor and Head of the Department of Biology at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. He is currently affiliated as a Foreign Delegate with Wolaita Sodo University, Ethiopia, and holds an Adjunct Professorship at the Department of Biotechnology, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. His earlier academic roles include Full Professor at Sankalchand Patel University in Visnagar, India, and Visiting Faculty at the Forest Research Institute and Doon College of Agriculture and Forest in Dehradun, India. With more than 25 years of experience in academia and research, he is highly regarded for his expertise in nanobiotechnology, plant physiology, environmental botany, medicinal plants, and plant propagation. His research has been supported by prominent national and international organizations, including the World Bank, the National Agricultural Technology Project, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. He is a prolific scholar, having published more than 350 academic works, including research articles, books, and book chapters. His editorial contributions are equally noteworthy; he serves on the editorial boards and peer review panels of numerous prestigious journals published by Elsevier, Frontiers Media, Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis, RSC, Oxford University Press, the Royal Society, CSIRO, MDPI, PLOS, Sciendo, John Wiley & Sons, and UPM Journals. He is also a member of the advisory board of Cambridge Scholars Publishing, UK. He is a fellow of the Plantae group under the American Society of Plant Biologists and holds membership in several scientific organizations, including the International Society of Root Research, the Asian Council of Science Editors, and the International Natural Product Sciences Taskforce. Throughout his career, he has delivered invited lectures, keynote addresses, and technical presentations at numerous international conferences, symposia, and workshops. In the field of academic development, he has made significant contributions through the design and delivery of orientation programs for university faculty, the development of educational modules, and the formulation of curricula at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. In recognition of his contributions to teaching, research, and community service, he was honoured with a special award from the University of Gondar. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Plant Physiology and is Series Editor for several major academic collections, including Exploring Medicinal Plants (Taylor & Francis, USA), Plant Biology, Sustainability, and Climate Change (Elsevier, USA), and Smart Nanomaterials Technology (Springer Nature, Singapore). He also leads the Handbook Series on Nanotechnology and Its Applications (Springer Nature, Singapore). His outstanding contributions to science have earned him international acclaim, including the prestigious distinction of being named among the โ€˜Worldโ€™s Top 2% Scientistsโ€™ for three consecutive years ( 2021 onward) by Stanford University, a recognition published in the Elsevier Data Repository. In addition to his regular academic responsibilities, he has served as Guest Editor for several high-impact special issues, including Advances in Plant Metabolomics: Insights, Applications, and Integration (Plant Physiology and Biochemistry), Exploring Nanotechnology in Medicinal Plants (Journal of Herbal Medicine), and Integrating Nanotechnology with Plant Compounds: Enhancing Abiotic Stress Resilience and Crop Improvement via Signaling Molecules (Frontiers in Plant Science), among others. His work continues to shape contemporary research at the intersection of plant science, biotechnology, and sustainable development. His academic leadership, research excellence, and international collaborations have positioned him as a prominent figure in global scientific circles.
