Lucy's family is excited to spend the summer in Bar Harbor, Maine. Lucy wants nothing to do with the town's social scene; she's simply excited to spend the summer by the sea. Despite having never gone swimming, Lucy feels an intense connection to the ocean and meets a handsome shipbuilder who shows Lucy a world she's never known, yet somehow always longed for.
Daughters of the Sea #3: Lucy follows Lucy and her family as they spend the summer in Bar Harbor, Maine. Her minister father is pleased to preside over a prestigious congregation, and her socially ambitious mother is ecstatic at the chance to find a wealthy husband for their daughter.
However, Lucy has little interest in the Bar Harbor social scene; she simply longs to spend her summer by the sea, watching the waves from her favourite spot on the cliff. Although she has never swum before, Lucy feels an intense connection to the ocean. She meets a handsome ship-builder who introduces her to a world she has never known, yet always yearned for.
Despite this, her mother is determined to keep Lucy and the ship-builder apart, even if it means pushing her towards a wealthy man with a dangerous secret. Can Lucy break free and embrace her destiny as a daughter of the sea, or is she destined to languish in a gilded cage, slowly dying of a broken heart?
