A young Sikh footballer reaches out across the generational divide to help a lonely old man in an uplifting story from acclaimed author Bali Rai.

Bobby Bains Plays a Blinder tells the story of Bobby Bains, who loves football and helping others. As a Sikh, it’s part of his religion. While assisting his mum at the community food bank, Bobby meets an old man named Trevor, who seems lonely.

Bobby believes Trevor would get on well with his nana-ji, his grandad, as both share a passion for football and reggae music. However, both men have dodgy old knees, preventing them from playing as they used to. So, Bobby devises a plan to get them back on the field. They could benefit from the exercise, and perhaps Trevor won’t feel so lonely anymore.

Will Bobby’s plan succeed? It’s a big challenge, but as the saying goes, if you don’t shoot, you don’t score!

Particularly suitable for readers aged 9+ with a reading age of 8.
