An uplifting story about starting nursery with a bubbly neurodiverse child at its centre.
Bessie's Bees by George Kirk tells the tale of Bessie, whose head is full of bees—constantly buzzing. And she is perfectly content with that, until one morning when Granny takes her somewhere new. . . NURSERY!
Bessie soon realises that no one else at nursery has bees, so she decides to keep hers hidden inside. Now, her head isn't just buzzing with bees; it's BURSTING with them!
Can Granny help Bessie feel like herself again? And will Bessie discover a way to share her bees with everyone in a manner that feels right?
This empowering story provides insight into the often complex experiences of growing up with ADHD, using the visual and accessible metaphor of bees. Bessie and her bees help readers see themselves represented and also embrace an understanding of those around them. The book offers a universal message for all and is an essential addition to everyone's bookshelf.

About the Author
George Kirk (Author)
Some people think George Kirk is a reformed primary teacher turned librarian. George Kirk knows she's really a vigilante, ukulele playing, storyteller. Some people think the reason George Kirk's a fussy, fidgety foghorn is because she has AuDHD. George Kirk knows it's just because the stories in her head are desperate to get out. But everyone agrees the only thing that makes George Kirk still and quiet is writing the stories down. So that's what she does, somewhere between the City of Manchester and the hills of Pendle.
Ana Gómez (Illustrator)
Ana studied Fine Arts in Salamanca, before continuing her education in Canterbury and then in Milan. After a lot of searching, she finally found her most beloved profession: being an illustrator. Since then, Ana's had the privilege of working with publishers from all over the world. Ana resides in Madrid, Spain.
