Being You delves into the very essence of what it means to be conscious. Our everyday experience of reality is something we often take for granted, but what if everything you thought you knew about yourself and your perception of the world was wrong? Professor Anil Seth, a renowned figure in neuroscience, embarks on a fascinating journey to understand how billions of neurons within our brains orchestrate the rich tapestry of human experience. The book explores the age-old question of why we experience life from a first-person perspective, presenting a radical new theory that not only challenges but redefines our understanding of consciousness and self.

Drawing on over two decades of pioneering research, Professor Seth offers a fresh, accessible, and thought-provoking examination of the brain's complexities. He delves into topics ranging from the science of perception to the nature of dreams, blending deep scientific insights with engaging philosophical discussions. Through vivid analogies and compelling examples, Seth unravels how our brain constructs a 'self' that navigates reality, makes decisions, and forms memories.

Being You is not just a book for scientists or philosophers; it’s a narrative meant for anyone curious about the workings of the mind. Seth’s unique theory emphasises that consciousness is not a mystical essence but a biological process grounded in the physical workings of the brain. This perspective invites readers to rethink long-held beliefs about who they are and how they relate to the world around them.

Renowned authors and scientists have praised the book for its clarity and depth. As David Eagleman, author of Livewired, puts it: "Beautifully written, crystal clear, deeply insightful." Whether you are new to the science of the brain or a seasoned expert, Being You promises to illuminate, challenge, and transform your understanding of your own mind.
